Crawford Fires Back At His Haters – ‘Gimme My Props'

Terence Crawford has fired back at his critics following his win over Errol Spence Jr. to become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era.

The perception prior to the fight was that Spence’s size would prove problematic for Crawford.

The ‘Truth’ was the taller man,  known for his volume punching to the body. However, Crawford neutralized Spence’s jab to the point where the ‘Truth’ was gunshy.

And this was summed up in the second round. As Spence leaned in to target the body, he over-extended and paid the price.

Crawford retaliated with a counter to put Spence down in the second round. Although the latter beat the count, two further knockdowns followed as Spence was stopped in the ninth-round.

And now Crawford has demanded that his name get some respect.

Crawford’s Comments

"Well, I been telling each and every one of y’all for years,” Crawford proudly stated. “A lotta y’all over here looking sad. … You know what I mean?

"But all in all, you know, I get to say I told y’all because I been asking for these fights for years. And y’all been saying, ‘Oh, he’s too small. He’s gonna get this. He’s gonna get broken.

"And each and every time that I step up, I proved y’all wrong each time. So, you know what I mean? Write some great stories about Terence Crawford. Don’t hate on him. Don’t say nothing negative. Just gimme my props," Crawford

Nevertheless, the post-fight diagnosis suggested that his critics were not satisfied. There were suggestions that Spence was weight-drained, which is why he put on a lackluster performance.

This is despite the fact that the ‘Truth’ made it clear that he had no excuses for his loss. However, given that a rematch could occur at 154, there may be another twist in the tale.

Spence indicated his desire to fight Crawford again at junior middleweight, as Bud did not dismiss the idea. And if that fight were to go ahead, Crawford may have to silence his doubters once again.
