Costa Reveals One Fight Left On UFC Deal

Paulo Costa has one fight left on his UFC contract and wants the promotion to book him immediately.

The former middleweight title challenger laid out his situation in a social media post this week, saying his current deal includes payment for a three-round bout and that he is willing to face anyone on the heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight roster. Costa has won his last two fights after moving up from 185 pounds.

Costa's Three Options For UFC

Costa addressed UFC matchmaker Hunter Campbell directly in his post. "I have 1 fight left. On my contract The purse is set for 3 rounds, not 5," he wrote, per BJ Penn. "I'm asking for the 3-round fight that was already agreed on contract. It can be anyone on the UFC LHW roaster."

The Brazilian outlined three options for the promotion. The first is a standard three-round fight against any opponent. The second is a five-round bout on six weeks notice, but only if the UFC raises his purse accordingly. The third option is an immediate release from his contract. "That's the minimum that's fair, right?" Costa wrote.

Costa has always drawn strong viewership numbers for the UFC despite a rocky relationship with the promotion at times. He signed off on his post by dating and locating it from Las Vegas on September 18.

Costa most recently defeated Michael Oleksiejczuk in June and has made it clear he believes he deserves another crack at championship gold at 205 pounds.
