Cormier Can't Remember Jones Knockout Nearly 10 Years Later

Daniel Cormier still has no recollection of the 2017 head-kick knockout Jon Jones landed on him, nearly a decade after the fight.

Cormier was working commentary at UFC 331 this past Saturday when Gable Steveson — Jones' protege — suffered a 12-second knockout loss to Sean Sharaf. Fans criticized Cormier for calling out Steveson's quick exit from the cage before Bruce Buffer could announce the official result, pointing out that Cormier himself was visibly upset after his second loss to Jones and initially balked at the post-fight formalities.

Cormier Reveals Memory Loss From 2017 Knockout

Responding on X, Cormier admitted he has no memory of what happened after the kick landed. "Wait I did that? Honestly this is what I mean when I say I remember nothing from after the kick landed until I got into the ambulance and 9 years later I still can't find the memory," he wrote, per BJPenn.com. "Every time I see something from that night post knockout it's the first time I've seen it. That's crazy."

The two heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight title fights between Cormier and Jones remain among the most heated rivalries in UFC history. Jones took a unanimous decision in their first meeting in early 2015. Their 2017 rematch appeared to end with a third-round knockout for Jones, but the result was later overturned after Jones' drug test came back flagged.

Cormier and Jones recently worked together as opposing coaches on Alf Reality, filmed in Thailand. The bad blood between the two has cooled considerably since their fighting days.
