Conor McGregor trolls Floyd Mayweather with gym cage clip
Conor McGregor has resumed needling Floyd Mayweather with a cryptic social media jab weeks before his UFC comeback.
The former two-division champion reposted 2018 footage of Mayweather stepping into an MMA cage inside a training facility, adding only a crying-laughing emoji, per Sherdog. The clip dates to the year after their 2017 boxing match, when speculation swirled about a potential cage rematch that never materialized. McGregor offered no additional commentary.
Mayweather stopped McGregor in their 2017 crossover bout
Mayweather handed McGregor a tenth-round TKO in their heavily promoted boxing contest. Official purses listed Mayweather at $100 million and McGregor at $30 million, though both reportedly collected far more once pay-per-view splits were factored in. Mayweather's total haul reached an estimated $280 million, while McGregor banked roughly $130 million, according to the report.
McGregor holds a 22-6 record and has not competed since fracturing his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. He meets Max Holloway in a welterweight clash at UFC 329 on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
