Conor McGregor reveals second fight already signed for April 2027
Conor McGregor has both his comeback fight and his follow-up already under contract, but the former two-division UFC champion is not happy about the gap between them.
McGregor, who faces Max Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, told Ariel Helwani that his second fight is signed for April 2027. "I have both dates for my fights," he said, per MMA Mania. "I have July 11th — when would you think they would put me back in? April 2027. It's almost a year later! That's ridiculous to me, I think, no?"
McGregor down to final two UFC fights under current deal
The Irishman, who has not fought in five years, said he has no explanation for the scheduling. "This is the way the contract was done," he told Helwani. "You'd have to ask me, Ari [Emanuel], why. I'm like, huh? Just give me the f*cking contract, it gets to that stage." No opponent has been named for the April date.
McGregor also confirmed that he has only two bouts remaining on his current UFC contract and that the promotion has not offered an extension. Whether UFC is waiting to see what a 37-year-old McGregor looks like against Holloway before committing long-term, or whether the timeline simply reflects how the deal was structured, remains unclear.
If the promotion does not re-sign him before 2027, McGregor will have leverage and outside options, including boxing crossovers and streaming platforms. First, though, he has to make it to the cage on July 11 after pulling out of a scheduled return two years ago.
