Conor McGregor return vs Max Holloway headlines UFC 329
Conor McGregor's return to the cage is set for UFC 329, where he will face Max Holloway in the main event, MMA Fighting reported.
The card also features a buildup to UFC 330, which will be headlined by Islam Makhachev defending his title against Ian Machado Garry. Several new bouts have been added to that event, according to the report.
Midyear grades and fighter of the year debate
The first six months of 2026 brought standout moments across the sport. MMA Fighting's Mike Heck examined the case for Justin Gaethje and Sean Strickland as midyear fighter candidates during a recent edition of his podcast. "The first half of 2026 for the UFC and the MMA world has been an interesting one to say the least, with big events, fights, newer promotions trying to make their mark, and more," Heck said.
Both fighters had strong showings in the opening half of the year. Gaethje's recent performances have sparked debate over whether his resume stacks up against Strickland's consistency in a crowded middleweight division.
The UFC 329 date and full lineup have not yet been confirmed, but the McGregor-Holloway rematch is expected to anchor a major pay-per-view. Holloway holds a win over McGregor from their 2013 featherweight bout.
