Conor McGregor tells Max Holloway 'you're not going to lay a glove on me' at UFC 329 faceoff
Conor McGregor told Max Holloway he will not land a single punch when the two meet at UFC 329 on July 11.
The former featherweight rivals came face to face for the first time since their rematch was announced, with McGregor dismissing the idea that Holloway deserves credit for being young during their 2013 bout. "People claim this man to be the No. 1 pound-for-pound featherweight of all time when I son'd him at that weight," McGregor said during the encounter, per MMA Fighting. "Max had his sixth UFC fight. He was my second. In Boston, I calmly put these big Irish balls on your face and I'm going to do it again."
Holloway predicts knockout, teases trilogy
Holloway stayed composed while McGregor shouted across the table, offering his own forecast with a nod to the Irishman's "Mystic Mac" persona. "Welcome to the Mystic Max era," Holloway said. "A bunch of gloves is going to get laid on that pretty face. Keep it clean for me." McGregor, returning from a five-year layoff and a broken leg, fired back immediately. "Max, you're not going to lay a glove on me and even if you do lay a glove on me, I'm going to laugh in your face," he said.
The former champion promised to finish the night untouched and looking ahead to another fight before the year ends. Holloway matched the timeline, saying he expects to beat McGregor in July and settle the score with a third meeting in December.
UFC 329 takes place July 11. McGregor has not fought since breaking his leg in 2021. Holloway last competed in April.
