Benn On Garcia's Belt After Eubank Wars

Conor Benn has a world title shot lined up against Ryan Garcia later this year, and the British welterweight says the motivation driving this camp feels completely different from the Eubank saga that consumed the past two years of his career.

In a sit-down with Ring Magazine, Benn explained that beating Chris Eubank Jr twice was about family pride and settling generational scores, while the Garcia fight is purely personal. "Winning the world title, for myself is very personal whereas the Eubank fights were for the family name, for family pride, it was for DNA, for bragging rights," he said, per Bad Left Hook. "This right here is for myself, something I always wanted to achieve, something I always wanted to win is that world title."

Benn Questions Garcia's Chin After Tank and Rolly Losses

Benn also addressed Garcia's two career defeats, suggesting the American wilted under pressure in both. Asked whether Garcia quit in those losses, Benn was blunt. "Did he quit? As a fighter I can say he did. With Rolly, did he go in his shell once he got clipped? He did. And our DNA's just different, our makeup is completely different."

The 28-year-old said moving up to middleweight for the Eubank rematch earlier this year was a fight in itself, but proving he could compete with a bigger man gave him confidence heading into the Garcia bout. He called the Eubank wars intense and brutal, admitting the second fight took part of his soul, but said this camp has been cleaner without the personal hatred.

Garcia holds the WBC welterweight strap Benn is chasing. A date and venue have not been announced, but the fight is expected before the end of 2026.
