Claressa Shields banned by MVP after slapping Baumgardner
Claressa Shields has been banned from Most Valuable Promotions events after slapping rival Alycia Baumgardner at Saturday night's Rousey vs. Carano card.
The two-division undisputed champion confronted Baumgardner during the event and struck her, according to footage circulated on social media. MVP confirmed the incident Sunday and invoked its zero-tolerance policy, per Sherdog.

Most Valuable Promotions issued a statement acknowledging the altercation and citing its ban on hostile or aggressive conduct toward fighters, staff, or attendees. The promotion did not specify how long Shields would be barred from future MVP events.
Shields and Baumgardner have traded insults on social media for months, with a potential fight between the two having been discussed but never finalized. The altercation took place on a card headlined by Gina Carano's first MMA bout in 17 years against Ronda Rousey. No hearing date or appeal process has been announced for Shields.
