Cejudo Returns For Misfits Boxing Match With Dean The Great
Henry Cejudo will step back into combat sports next month when he faces social media personality Nurideen Shabazz at a Misfits Boxing event in Miami on Sept. 26, MMA Mania reports.
The 39-year-old former two-division UFC champion and Olympic gold medalist is set to box Shabazz, who goes by "Deen the Great," at James L. Knight Center. Cejudo most recently retired from MMA earlier this year after dropping four consecutive bouts following his May 2023 comeback.
Shabazz Held Misfits Title For More Than Two Years
Shabazz, 25, held the Misfits lightweight strap for over 800 days before being stripped in 2024. He dropped his most recent outing to Amado Vargas at Misfits Mania last December, ending his undefeated run in the ring.
Cejudo initially retired in early 2020 after stopping Dominick Cruz in the second round at bantamweight. His second UFC run ended winless across four fights, all losses coming after he challenged for titles at flyweight and bantamweight.
Misfits has not announced additional matchups for the Sept. 26 card. The promotion typically books influencer and crossover boxing bouts alongside traditional prospects.
