Canelo Vs. Crawford's Live Gate – ‘One Of The Biggest Ever'

Dana White has confirmed that the Undisputed Super Middleweight Title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford on September 13 will have the third-largest live gate in boxing history. 

White, who is a co-promoter of the event with the Saudis under the new TKO Boxing brand, has talked up the numbers. The live gate exceeded all other boxing bouts except for two Floyd Mayweather fights: Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor. The record-breaking gate is a testament to the immense star power of both fighters. Canelo is the sport’s biggest pay-per-view star. While Crawford does not have the same commercial appeal, he has achieved some of the most impressive accomplishments in the sport. A win makes him undisputed in a third weight class.

The narrative of a smaller, technically brilliant fighter moving up in weight to challenge a powerful and established champion has captivated the fanbase. The fight is also taking place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, a massive stadium that can hold a huge crowd, allowing for a much larger live gate than a typical arena. The arena can reportedly hold 72,000 people.

The high ticket prices, with the lowest tickets selling for over $350 and suites going for tens of thousands of dollars, are a clear indication of the immense demand for the event. The Saudi involvement, which has seen the promotion backed by a massive financial investment, has also created a level of hype and financial backing that is rarely seen in boxing.
