Canelo Alvarez remains set to challenge WBC middleweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">super middleweight champion Christian Mbilli in Riyadh on October 31, despite deadly attacks on King Khalid International Airport.

Turki Alalshikh says Canelo contacted him to confirm he still intends to fight there, adding that “he fears nothing.” Alvarez’s representatives have not commented publicly.

A Houthi-claimed strike on Saturday killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300. Another attack on Sunday left one dead and several injured. The escalating security concerns have raised questions about whether the card, billed as Mexico vs. The World, could be moved or postponed.

Alvarez, 36, is looking to regain the WBC title after losing all his belts to Terence Crawford by unanimous decision in September 2025. Mbilli was elevated from interim to full champion after Crawford retired, and this is his first defense.
