Bulaid Pulls Out Of Contender Series Hours Before Fight

Ilias Bulaid withdrew from his Dana White's Contender Series bout against Erick Visconde on Tuesday after falling ill hours before the Week 8 card in Las Vegas.

MMA Fighting reported the featherweight opener was scratched just hours before the show at the APEX, reducing the event to four fights. The bout has been rescheduled for Week 10 later this season. Bulaid had successfully weighed in on Monday but became sick before fight time, according to the report.

Coach Reacts To Late Scratch

Visconde's coach Chad George revealed the late withdrawal on social media. "Wow this is fun. Our opponent pulled out to illness 20 minutes before heading to venue for our DWCS fight. Time to make the drive back to LA," George wrote, per the outlet.

Bulaid brings a 9-0 professional MMA record with one no contest into the Contender Series, having previously fought for Bellator and UAE Warriors. The kickboxer-turned-mixed martial artist remained undefeated heading into Tuesday's scheduled appearance. Visconde, who holds a 17-3 mark, captured the vacant LFA featherweight title in May.
