Blachowicz Calls Out Whittaker After UFC Return
Former heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz has challenged Robert Whittaker to a cross-division fight following his return to the Octagon earlier this month.
Blachowicz, who defeated Navajo Stirling at UFC Fight Night Belgrade on August 1, addressed speculation about his retirement by calling out the middleweight contender. "Let's turn your words into action," he posted, per MMA Mania, apparently referencing previous comments from Whittaker about potential opponents.
What A Blachowicz-Whittaker Fight Would Mean
The callout represents an unusual crossover between divisions, with Blachowicz competing at 205 pounds and Whittaker established at 185. Both veterans have held UFC gold, though neither currently wears a title.
Blachowicz lost his heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight strap to Glover Teixeira in 2021 but has remained active in the division's top 10. Whittaker has campaigned for a third middleweight title shot after back-to-back wins over Paulo Costa and Ikram Aliskerov earlier this year.
No official response from Whittaker or his team has emerged since the challenge. UFC matchmakers have not commented on whether the cross-division bout holds promotional interest.
