BKFC 92 heads to Fenway Park for bare-knuckle debut
Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship will stage its biggest venue play yet when it takes over Fenway Park on Aug. 29 for BKFC 92, the promotion announced Monday.
The featherweight title will be on the line in the evening's main event, as the current champion faces Massachusetts native Harry Gigliotti at the home of the Boston Red Sox. According to Sherdog, the fight marks the first regulated bare-knuckle boxing event in the state's history.
Feldman calls Fenway collaboration 'unprecedented'
Fenway opened in April 1912 and seats nearly 38,000 for baseball, though BKFC has not disclosed how much of that capacity will be available for the fight card. "We're beyond excited to announce this unprecedented event at Fenway Park on Saturday, August 29," BKFC president Dave Feldman said in a statement. "The team at Fenway Park has been outstanding to collaborate with in what is truly a can't miss event on the national combat sports calendar."
Additional bouts for BKFC 92 will be announced in the coming weeks. The promotion has been expanding into larger venues over the past year as bare-knuckle fighting gains traction across North America.
