BKB CEO Pursues Cross-Promotion With Matchroom, Zuffa Boxing
BKB CEO David Tetreault wants his bare-knuckle promotion to co-promote with the sport's biggest boxing outfits.
Tetreault told Bare Knuckle Bowker that he sees room for BKB to work with Matchroom Boxing, Zuffa Boxing, and Golden Boy after recruiting several high-level boxers to the promotion's roster. "I really upped the game with our matchmaker Mel Valenzuela," he said, per BJ Penn. "I really want to go after natural strikers from the MMA category, and I want to go after some very, very skilled boxers in the boxing category."
BKB's Boxing Signings Open Door For Major Partnerships
The promotion recently signed former world champions Lee Selby, Victor Ortiz, and Yuriorkis Gamboa, along with MMA veterans Aspen Ladd and Sharif Rahman. Tetreault said the shift came after he noticed skill differences between BKB's UK roster, which drew heavily from boxing tradition, and its American roster, which recruited mostly from PFL, UFC, and Bellator.
On a potential Golden Boy partnership, Tetreault said the door would always be open to co-promote with Oscar De La Hoya. The two discussed adding bare-knuckle to Golden Boy's Facebook Watch distribution in 2020 but agreed the timing was premature. Tetreault previously worked at Golden Boy and said De La Hoya remains one of the greatest promoters in combat sports.
BKB stages fights inside the Mighty Trigon, a three-sided ring where clinch work plays a tactical role. No timeline has been announced for potential cross-promotional bouts.
