Benn Cleared By UKAD – What's Next?

Conor Benn’s UKAD investigation is over, as the organization has cleared the boxer despite his two failed VADA tests.

Benn tested positive for Clomiphene on two occasions, a substance that is known for masking steroid use.

While that may have been the case, Benn denied having the substance in his system as he claimed that there could be issues with the testing system.

Thereafter, the WBC cleared the boxer by stating that elevated levels of egg consumption could have led to the Clomiphene.

However, UKAD suspended the boxer as they conducted an investigation. And now that he has been cleared, Benn can fight in the UK.

Benn’s Reaction

"Today marks the end of the of a gruelling 10 month process, during which the WBC had already decided that I was innocent of any wrongdoing.

"After a hearing with the National Anti-Doping Panel and UKAD, I have now been vindicated for the second time.

"Hopefully the public and various members of the media can now understand why I have maintained my innocence so strongly all the way through.

"The UKAD process has now formally ended, and I remain free to fight. Naturally I am pleased that I can now put this behind me once and for all," Benn

This naturally begs the question: What are the next steps for Benn? Well, there is a chance that a fight with Eubank Jr. could happen later down the line.

However, given that Eubank Jr. faces Liam Smith on September 2nd, 2023, there is a chance that the fight may not have enough interest.

Regardless of what the case may be, Eddie Hearn was just glad to see his boxer getting back to doing what he does best.

Hearn’s Reaction

"Conor Benn has been officially cleared by UKAD and cleared to box in the UK, which is a massive moment for him for us.

"It’s been a brutal, painful year of work and belief and decisions to back an individual that we believed in. And I can’t wait to see him fight.

"The nightmare is over and he can get back to his career. I hope everybody now can support the fact that he’s gone through absolutely every process that was ever asked of him and he’s done it’s all, it’s over," Hearn
