Benn Calls Out McGregor After Garcia Loss
Conor Benn says he is ready to fight Conor McGregor any time, posting to Instagram that he would take on the former UFC champion "any day of the week."
The welterweight, who signed with Zuffa Boxing earlier this year, floated the matchup days after telling fans he needed time away to focus on his family. "The Destroyer" was stopped by Ryan Garcia in September at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, his first fight under the UFC's promotional arm.
White Has Ruled Out Boxing Crossovers
As MMA Mania first reported, UFC president Dana White has already shut down the idea of boxing crossover bouts. White, who also oversees Zuffa Boxing, told reporters after the Garcia fight that he has no interest in staging novelty matchups between boxers and MMA fighters.
McGregor, 38, has one bout remaining on his current UFC deal. He has not competed since his loss to Max Holloway at UFC 329 last summer in Las Vegas. Benn told fans after the Garcia defeat that his priority was spending time with his children. "They've sacrificed time with their Dad so I could chase this dream," he said, per MMA Mania.
No timeline has been announced for either fighter's next appearance.
