Raoni Barcelos is stable and responsive following a frightening injury during his UFC Vegas 121 loss to Raul Rosas Jr. on Saturday night.

The 28-fight veteran collapsed during what appeared to be a routine takedown attempt in the final round and had to be stretchered from the UFC Apex. Barcelos was ahead on all three judges' scorecards when the fight was waved off. Medical Team Reports Full Movement And Consciousness

"Following his fight tonight, Raoni Barcelos was immediately transported to a Level 1 trauma center for evaluation," the promotion said in a statement. "The hospital medical team conducted a CT scan and comprehensive assessment, and he is currently being monitored. Barcelos is stable, alert and responsive, with full movement."

Barcelos' coach Davi Ramos posted an update on Instagram confirming the fighter regained full consciousness and can move all his extremities. "Raoni is doing well. He has regained full consciousness, he can move his legs, his arms, and his hands; he is alert, he is talking," Ramos said, per Fight Talk. "Everything is fine with him. He is still undergoing a few more tests."

The bout-ending sequence drew comparisons to some of the most alarming injuries in recent MMA history. Theories have circulated about what caused Barcelos to slump over during the scramble, but nothing has been confirmed. He remains under medical supervision while the hospital completes additional testing.
