Asplund On UFC Loss That 'Felt Like Death'

Tom Rashid
UFC & MMA Lead Writer ·

Steven Asplund says his most recent UFC defeat transformed his approach to fighting and left him with a feeling he never wants to experience again.

The middleweight told reporters that the loss "felt like death" and forced him to reevaluate everything about his career, per Sherdog. Asplund is reportedly using that rock-bottom moment as fuel heading into his next Octagon appearance.

How Defeat Reshaped Asplund's Mindset

The experience was severe enough that Asplund vowed he would not let another setback happen inside the cage. According to the Sherdog report, the fighter has made adjustments to his training camp and mental preparation in response to the loss.

Asplund's next UFC booking has not been announced, but the middleweight is said to be targeting a return in the second quarter of this year.
