Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury contract mandates UK venue, Hearn says
The signed contract for Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury contains a clause requiring the fight take place in the UK, Eddie Hearn said this week.
Hearn's comments come as BoxingScene reported that initial conversations have occurred about potential US venues, including SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Any shift across the Atlantic would require modifications to the existing agreement, according to the Matchroom boss.
Dana White claims lead role in Joshua-Fury negotiations
The back-and-forth follows Dana White suggesting last weekend that he and financier Turki Alalshikh are the primary dealmakers behind the late 2026 showdown, not Hearn or Frank Warren. "Call Eddie right now and ask him if he knows where the fight is," White said after Zuffa Boxing's first UK card in Bournemouth. "Call Eddie and ask him who negotiated the contract for the fight. It wasn't him."
Both heavyweights have interim fights to clear first. Joshua faces Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on July 25, while Fury is expected to meet Nelson Hysa in August, though that matchup has not been announced.
The November 2026 date remains in place, assuming Joshua and Fury both win and honor the current terms. The venue dispute, however, is shaping up as the next major hurdle.
