Andrade Promises To Expose Benavidez, The Mexican Monster Wants All Of Canelo's Belts

In the latest boxing news, Demetrius Andrade has backed himself to get the better of David Benavidez when they square off on November 25th, 2023.

The two undefeated fighters will face off in a battle of two contrasting styles. Benavidez is known for being a come-forward fighter, who is heavy handed and the naturally larger fighter.

Meanwhile, Andrade’s high boxing IQ is well known even if his success has come at 154 and 160. But for all the worries that the extra weight could have an impact at 168, Andrade expressed how Benavidez’s style would play right into hands. And the two-weight champion was not worried about the prospect of the Mexican walking him down.

Andrade On Benavidez

"So I’m going to be able to do what I know how to do because I’ve been doing it all my life, and I’m going to be able to pick the spots that I think I that’s going to be able to land some great shots. Benavidez is just going to come forward, and it’s fine because I have the finesse. I do have the leg work, I know how to move, I know when to mix it up, I know when to take time off, and I know how to win three minutes for the next 36 minutes, should I say," Andrade said

But in order to do that, Andrade must get the respect of Benavidez with his power. Caleb Plant had shown that it was possible to outbox Benavidez during the first half of the fight.

However, as the fight continued, the Mexican Monster closed the gap and dominated to win by a unanimous decision. And yet, Andrade was not worried about that prospect as he talked up his dangerous left hand.

"Oh yeah, for sure, definitely [I will get his respect]. Oh yeah, because it’s fast, and with him, I’ll be able to throw it at all angles. I had a dude named [Walter] Kautondokwa that he was a straightforward guy who wanted to load up on shots and stuff like that, and I pick him apart," Andrade

Benavidez’s Plan

Nevertheless, Benavidez does have other plans provided that he gets past Andrade. The WBC super middleweight intertim champion spoke on his desire to stay at the weight class to take all of Canelo Alvarez’s belts.

Benavidez has been a mandatory for more than one year, which only adds to the calls for the WBC to order the mandatory. But until those issues are resolved, Benavidez is willing to bide his time to come out on the other side.

"I’m not going nowhere. As I tell you that I’m going to be the best in this generation, I really believe that in myself, and I’m going to put the work in. Whenever they see me, if it’s now, two years or five years, I’m not going nowhere, and I’m going to be here, and I’m going to take all his belts. I believe I’m the best in the world, and we have to be patient. With great things, you need a lot of patience, and that’s what it is," Benavidez stated

Morrell Jr.’s Criticism

Despite the magnitude of the fight, David Morrell Jr. has hit out at the spectacle on the basis that his name was not mentioned at all.

Morrell Jr. currently remains undefeated, having knocked out all of his opponents except one, with a record of 9-0. The Cuban had been linked with a fight against Benavidez only for a fight not to get made.

A bout against Morrell Jr, however, poses a high risk, low reward fight in that the Cuabn offers nothing by way of belts. Therefore, a loss for Benavidez would damage his chances of facing Canelo for undisputed at 168, given that he is the current WBC super middleweight interim champion.

With that being said, the b0xer referred to the bout as a ‘clown circus.’ Ultimately, Morrell Jr. can only keep on winning which will aid his cause for a title shot. But for now, it may be some time before Morrell Jr. gets that chance.

Regardless of how things play out, the super middleweight division is in a good place. Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingblitz.
