Amanda Serrano Defends Titles on TikTok in Historic MVP Bout
Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions has scheduled Amanda Serrano to defend her unified featherweight titles against Argentine challenger Lucrecia Manzur on TikTok.
The promotion announced the matchup for Aug. 21 at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California, with the bout streaming live on the social media platform, MMA Mania reports. Serrano will put her WBA and WBO straps on the line over 12 two-minute rounds, marking the first unified women's world championship scheduled at that duration.
Serrano Chases All-Time Knockout Record
Serrano enters with 32 career knockouts, tied for the all-time women's boxing record after stopping Cheyenne Hanson earlier this year. The Puerto Rican champion has won two straight since dropping consecutive decisions to Katie Taylor, including their trilogy bout that headlined the first all-women's card at Madison Square Garden.
"I've dedicated my career to creating opportunities for women's boxing and bringing our sport to the biggest stages possible, so to headline the first championship boxing event on TikTok is incredibly meaningful," Serrano said in a release. "Women's boxing deserves to be seen by as many people around the world as possible, and this partnership gives us the chance to introduce our sport to a massive global audience in a completely new way."
Manzur brings a 14-4 record and five-fight win streak into the challenge, coming off a defense of her WBO Latino featherweight title. MVP is betting that Serrano's pursuit of history in front of a massive social media audience will justify the unusual platform choice.
