Alik Lorenz knocked out Mahamed Aly in the first round at Dana White's Contender Series on Tuesday night, landing a UFC contract in the process.

Lorenz, who trains at The MMA Lab in Arizona, stopped Aly at 2:23 of the opening frame at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, per MMA Mania. Both men were back on the show after suffering quick knockout losses during Season 9, but Lorenz left no doubt this time. He charged forward early, landing overhand rights before switching to uppercuts that repeatedly connected. A massive right hand dropped Aly, and Lorenz followed with hammerfists that forced the referee to wave off the fight.

The finish gives Lorenz his eighth win against two losses, and his seventh first-round knockout. The 29-year-old heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight has never seen a second round in a victory. He had lost to Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev in just 30 seconds during Season 9, but Yakhyaev has since found success in the UFC, softening the sting of that defeat.

Lorenz told MMA Mania before the fight that he wanted a quick turnaround at Noche UFC 4, citing his proximity to the venue. After Tuesday's performance, that request may land on Dana White's desk with more weight behind it.
