Adrien Broner Says Jones 'Almost Felt My Left Hook'

Jon Jones came close to taking a left hook from Adrien Broner at a Las Vegas party — and only his state of intoxication spared him.

Broner revealed the incident publicly, describing an encounter in which Jones, heavily drunk, became aggressive and directed a sustained verbal attack at the four-weight boxing champion. Broner said he made a deliberate choice to let it go, given the circumstances, but was clear about how close things came to escalating.

"He cussed me out real bad that last time I was with him. He was real drunk. He was just intoxicated. I wouldn't let that go with anybody else, but it was him, and I'm like, 'I know he's drunk.' He was cooked. He was so drunk," Broner said.

The timing adds context that is difficult to ignore. Jones is currently in the middle of a public and increasingly bitter dispute with the UFC following his exclusion from the White House card on June 14. UFC Freedom 250, which takes place on the White House lawn and features two title fights at lightweight and heavyweight, went ahead without him. Jones took that exclusion hard. He has since publicly demanded his release from the UFC, accusing CEO Dana White of cutting him out of an event he felt he deserved to be part of.

Jones’ life outside the cage has been a different story. Legal issues, failed drug tests, and incidents that have repeatedly put his character under scrutiny have followed him throughout his career.

Jones is at a crossroads that has nothing to do with Broner. His UFC future is unresolved, his last fight came over two years ago, and the dispute with White has put his career in a holding pattern with no clear resolution in sight.
