McGregor Shows Off His Punch Power
Conor McGregor showed off his punch power while waiting for his next fight.
Fans are still waiting to see McGregor fight following his 2021 defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. His fight with Michael Chandler has been pushed back after McGregor pulled out of their June 29 bout. A broken toe meant fans have to wait longer to see him fight. McGregor has been keeping himself busy in training after suggestions he could fight at the end of the year. One of McGregor’s biggest strengths is his left hand. The Irishman has secured numerous stoppages with it, namely knocking out Jose Aldo. McGregor demonstrated his power on the punch machine.
McGregor’s Punch Power
McGregor threw his left hand with force. However, the clip did not show the final results, leaving fans guessing. McGregor’s previous attempt at this did not go down well. McGregor did the same challenge last year. When he hit the machine, McGregor somehow only scored 1 out of 100. The machine appeared to have malfunctioned, resulting in a massive reaction.
“Breaking the thing twice, number one baby all smashed up yeah,” McGregor
McGregor currently has two fights left on his UFC deal. There are still doubts about whether McGregor will fight again. He is now 35 and coming off a career-threatening leg injury. Even if McGregor fights next year, he could end up in his late thirties before he finishes his UFC contract. That has left questions over his next opponent. McGregor has also expressed his desire to fight Nate Diaz, Dustin Poirier and has even been linked with UFC Welterweight Champion Belal Muhammad.
McGregor’s Future
These are all much bigger fights than Chandler. Belal secured a win over Leon Edwards at UFC 304 in a unanimous decision to secure the belt. A fight with Belal would require McGregor to fight at 170. The weight is doable, but the Irishman struggles with discipline. He has been seen on numerous occasions drinking his Forge Irish Stout. At the elite level, McGregor will get found out. He admitted that he was drinking during the build-up for the Khabib Nurmagomedov bout. Belal was clear that McGregor was not ready for the smoke.
“I don’t think he’ll look good at 170. The dude doesn’t look good in life right now. He looks like he’s coked out. He looks like he’s on drugs. If he beats Michael Chandler, I wouldn’t even let him skip the line, because like I said, there’s guys that work for it.
“There’s guys that got here. And then even with the last fight with Colby [Covington] skipping the line for Leon. I’m like, I would never do that because there’s guys that are actually putting the work in. For legacy-wise, obviously I would want to slap Conor around, but there would be too much for it not to happen, right?,” Edwards stated
McGregor is still a big name, as the presser for the Chandler fight sold out in nine minutes. But it is only so long that he can live off his past achievements as a two-weight world champion.
