Jake Paul Eyes 2028 Olympics - 'Gold Medal, You’re Mine'

Jake Paul says he will attempt to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games.

Paul has come a long way since he decided to pursue his professional boxing career. The Problem Child is 10-0-1, having beaten Mike Perry in his last fight. His only defeat came at the hands of Tommy Fury. But since that loss, he has won four on the bounce. Two of his wins have been against pro boxers Andre August and Ryan Bourland. Paul has also given back to the boxing community.

He formed MVP Promotions to help the next generation of boxers. He has helped Amando Serrano become one of the biggest female boxers. Paul has already shown his dedication to the Olympics, saying he will attend the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. This allows him to train alongside pros and scout the next generation of boxers he could sign with MVP.

Jake’s Ambition

“Jake’s mentorship will be a vital resource to the young athletes on Team USA to ensure they capitalize on building brand IP as they get the opportunity to perform on the biggest stage in the world at the most iconic contest in history — the Olympics,” Mike McAtee (USA Boxing’s executive director)

Now, he hopes to go one better by qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

“I’m going to enter the 2028 Olympics, for boxing in Los Angeles. I’m sick and tired of waiting around, waiting for another gold for Team USA. I definitely probably added a couple more years to my boxing career because of that…Los Angeles, United States. I’m going to do it, why not? 2028 Olympics, you heard it here first. Gold medal, you’re mine, brother. Being a world champion is first and foremost and second is a Gold medal,” Paul said

The Problem Child must qualify for the games by taking on US boxers. He will also have to enroll in drug testing and get approved by the IOC. That would be another string to Paul’s bow, who is focused on facing Mike Tyson next. They were set to face off on July 20. But Tyson pulled out after injuring his pectoral muscle. The fight has now been rescheduled for November 20. There have been several question marks over this fight.

Paul Vs. Tyson

Tyson will be 58 at the time of the fight, three decades older than Paul. Meanwhile, the fight does nothing for either fighter’s legacy. A win for Paul would simply be seen as him beating an out-of-form Tyson.

Meanwhile, a loss seriously damages his chances of becoming a world champion in the future. Tyson’s last appearance in a boxing ring was in 2020 when he took on Roy Jones Jr. His last pro fight was in 2005 when he took on Kevin McBride, who beat him. McBride has warned Paul over what could happen in their fight.

“I’d warn Jake Paul tomake sure Mike doesn’t spit his mouthpiece out because if he does you never know what’s going to happen. You don’t know what Mike Tyson is going to do, he’s a fearsome man,” McBride stated
