In the latest boxing news, Eric Gomez, the president of Golden Boy Promotions, has confirmed that relations with Ryan Garcia have now improved amid their recent legal battle.
Reports indicate that the fighter had informed Golden Boy that his contract had been violated. This was in relation to suggestions that Garcia was allowed to fight on any network of his choice on pay-per-view.
Although that may have been the case, it appears that when it came to the fight with Gervonta Davis, things had changed. It is alleged that Garcia had been informed that his fight must be shown on DAZN due to Golden Boy’s agreement with the network.
That resulted in litigation, which was then followed up by a period of mediation, in the hope of resolving things as soon as possible. And by the looks of it, progress has been made.
Gomez On Garcia
“You know if you get together and talk and communicate, you’d be surprised how much you can get through to people and give your point of view and he gave his point of view. I think we’re at a place now where we can move forward and keep working. Look, we were able to get December done.
“And he wants to keep fighting and he wants to fight the best and we want to keep promoting his fights. So that’s what we’re going to do. Look, at the end of the day, he’s a professional, we’re professionals, Oscar’s a professional as well, and we can put all that stuff to the side and keep moving forward and do business,” Gomez said
The news is likely to open up more doors for Garcia moving forward. And by the looks of it, Garcia has plenty of fighters looking to face him.
King Ryan is currently preparing to face Oscar Duarte on December 2nd, 2023. However, prior to that being made, Adrien Broner was in the conversation to face Garcia.
Broner On Garcia
Broner is a four-division world champion, showing that he is a credible name for Garcia as the latter seeks to make himself home in the 140-pound division.
And yet, it is important to note that Broner is no longer at the peak of his powers. Following a period of struggles with mental health, Broner has only had three fights since 2019.
But following his recent comeback against Bill Hutchinson in June, Broner was ready to hit the big time again.
“We’ve never ever received a formal offer from Golden Boy to fight Ryan Garcia. But if they’re serious about making the fight at 140 pounds, let’s make it happen. If Ryan’s successful with whoever this guy is on December 2nd, AB is preparing right now to give Ryan the a** whooping he’s looking for next. My young prodigy De Von Williams is perfect sparring for AB to prepare for Ryan. As a matter of fact I think he beats Ryan too. Let’s stop the capping Golden Boy and send a proposal and it’s on,” Kevin Cunningham (Broner’s trainer)
