Biography

Professional Career

Dalton Smith, an English professional boxer, has swiftly climbed the ranks to become a prominent figure in the light-welterweight division. Smith made his professional debut on May 10, 2019, with a points victory over Luka Leskovic at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England. Demonstrating a blend of technical skill and power, Smith quickly established himself as a rising star in the boxing world. Smith’s early career was marked by a series of impressive knockout victories. Notable among these was his TKO win against Michael Carrero on November 2, 2019, at the Manchester Arena, and another against Benson Nyilawila on March 7, 2020, in the same venue. His ability to end fights decisively continued to be a hallmark of his style, as he secured a KO victory over Nathan Bennett in August 2020 at Matchroom Headquarters in Brentwood, England.

In 2021, Smith captured his first major title by winning the vacant English light-welterweight title with a TKO victory over Lee Appleyard on May 15 at the AO Arena in Manchester. This victory set the stage for further success, as Smith went on to claim the vacant WBA Inter-Continental light-welterweight title by defeating Brian Pelaez via unanimous decision on September 10, 2021, in Klagenfurt, Austria. Smith’s impressive run continued into 2022, with a TKO win over Ray Moylette on March 26, earning him the vacant WBC International Silver light-welterweight title.

Smith’s dominance in the ring was further solidified when he won the vacant British light-welterweight title on August 6, 2022, by defeating Sam O’maison via TKO at the Sheffield Arena. He successfully defended this title against Kaisee Benjamin and Billy Allington in 2022 and 2023, respectively, both bouts ending in unanimous decision victories. On July 1, 2023, Smith added the Commonwealth light-welterweight title to his collection by stopping Sam Maxwell in the seventh round at the Sheffield Arena. The pinnacle of Smith’s career thus far came on March 23, 2024, when he won the vacant WBC Silver light-welterweight title with a fifth-round knockout of Jose Zepeda at the Sheffield Arena.
