Farid Basharat Blasts Michael Page After Their Brawl – ‘A Coward, Fake Guy, A Bully’
Michael Page and Farid Basharat were involved in a heated scuffle after UFC 304.
According to reports, the two were at the UFC hotel, where they butted heads. The pair are coming off with contrasting results in their last fights. Page suffered a defeat at UFC 303 against Ian Machado Garry last month. Meanwhile, Basharat did better, earning himself a victory over Taylor Lapilus in January.
However, things turned sour when Alexander Volkanovski released the following footage. The Australian was there as Page and Basharat exchanged verbals. Volkanovski tried to diffuse things by taking down Basharat. He failed, but security got involved to prevent things from escalating. Before the actual footage, Volk hinted that something had gone down.
Page Vs. Basharat
“I wasn’t sure if I should even mention it. I didn’t want to cause any issues or name anyone involved. But since you’re asking, I’ll share a bit. There was a scuffle in the lobby between two individuals. One was definitely a fighter, but I’m not sure about the other. It looked like a punch was thrown, and things got heated. Security was all over it, but I tried to step in and diffuse the situation.
“The guy I tried to hold onto was quite slippery. Despite my efforts, he managed to evade me and a few other security guards. It was quite a scene, with everyone scrambling to control the situation. I almost lost my balance as we tumbled down the stairs,” Volkanovski said
Despite the situation ending, Basharat has continued to speak out. He took to social media to call out Page, demanding they settle things. But that fight is unlikely since Farid is a bantamweight while Page is a welterweight.
Basharat Reacts
“I’ve never been one to look for a fight but if somebody starts it I will never shy away. He swung first and then backed away. Coward and a fake nice guy. But it’s cool.. I know how to deal with bullies. See you around,” Basharat revealed
Outside of that, Page is planning his next fight. He has one UFC win in two fights after beating Kevin Holland on his debut at UFC 299. While the Garry loss was a setback, it was a close decision that could have gone another way. Fans questioned his next fight, with one suggesting that he should fight Gilbert Burns. Burns will fight Sean Brady next on September 7, which will take place at the UFC Apex. Page is ready to face a ranked contender if the Burns fight does not go ahead.
“One hundred percent I want to try and get back towards the end of the year,” Page said during the UFC 304 fan Q&A. “I’m not sure exactly when, but towards the end of the year I definitely want to try and get one more in before the start of the new year. Who? Who did you say? Let’s go, Gilbert Burns. The welterweight division is stacked full of absolute killers. So, I just want to challenge myself at the very top,” Page stated
