Devin Haney Has Been Offered The Regis Prograis Fight – Says Eddie Hearn

Eddie Hearn has confirmed that an offer has been made to Devin Haney for a fight with Regis Prograis. 

Speculation has been emerging over whether Haney will stay at 135 lbs following his win over Vasiliy Lomachenko.

While the American has nothing else to prove, given that he is the undisputed lightweight champion, he has been linked with a fight against Shakur Stevenson.

So much so that the ‘Dream’ made an offer of 25 percent towards Stevenson. However, the latter quickly knocked that back on the basis that it did not reflect his true value. 

And as Gervonta Davis is behind bars for breaking the terms of his house arrest, the mega fights appear to be at the junior welterweight division.

Haney does have a close relationship with Hearn, Matchroom and DAZN, having worked with them prior to signing with Top Rank. 

With that being said, Hearn confirmed that an offer had been made to fight Prograis for the WBC title.

“I’ve made an offer to Devin Haley to fight Regis Prograis, and talks are ongoing with Bill Haney and Devin. It’s not been non-stop meetings with them, but they’ve had an offer.

“We would like to make the Regis Prograis fight. They’ve made it clear to us that’s a fight they would like, so we’ll have to see. It’s definitely not done,” Hearn

If the fight does not end up happening, there is a chance that Jack Catterall could take on Prograis.

The former has been linked with the big fights ever since his performance against Josh Taylor.

Despite coming second best on the scorecards, the overwhelming consensus was that Catterall had been robbed of a decision.

And in doing so, he missed out on the chance to become undisputed. But this time around, a world title shot with Prograis could happen.

“Regis is happy to fight Jack [Catterall]. “We’ve also got a mandatory situation with the WBC, which we have to deal with as well, but Sam Jones does message me 46 times a day about that fight [Prograis vs. Catterall].

“He wants the fight. There’s a very good chance that could happen,” Hearn
