In some top boxing news, Francis Ngannou is a very popular man, if the MMA fighter’s latest gift is anything to go by, as he showcased his new £87,000 Jacob & Co watch given to him by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ngannou is currently on course to face Tyson Fury on October 28th, 2023, in a fight where is expected to come out second best. After all, the MMA fighter is making his boxing debut against the WBC heavyweight champion of the world.

Despite this being the case, Ngannou has been receiving huge support in his quest to pull off one of the biggest upsets. The MMA fighter is working with Mike Tyson as his trainer and cornerman.

Having a former undisputed heavyweight champion in his corner will no doubt help the star. Meanwhile, getting the backing of Ronaldo, one of the greatest footballers of all time, just goes on to show Ngannou’s standing amongst the sporting elite.

The video below shows Ngannou collecting the watch that has no doubt gone down well. The post included the following caption: “Got to pick up my new watch ahead of fight week here in Riyadh. Thank you @jacobandco Riyadh & my brother @cristiano.”

CR7’s Gift To Ngannou

The gift may not come as a surprise, given the attitude that the footballer has shown towards the sport. Despite being one of the best footballers of all time, CR7 has indicated his preference for combat sports when it comes to actual spectacles.

The footballer admitted that boxing or UFC was his choice of preference when it came to watching it. But that did not go as far as competing in the sport.

CR7 On Combat Sports

“Playing football is my passion, but I prefer watching other sports on TV. Between watching a football match or a boxing or UFC fight, I choose boxing or UFC. I don’t think I could have been a boxer, it’s tough. You have to be born for that, with that gift. I think I was born to be a professional footballer, I thought I had that gift from the beginning, and I said to myself: “I’m going to grab this opportunity with my hands”.

“When I was at Manchester United, a coach boxed with me. I think practicing boxing is useful for football because it sharpens your senses and you learn to move. Boxing is a little more difficult because you are alone when you compete. You work in the gym, you have your team, but they then they don’t play with you, they just train with you. In our case it’s different, it’s more fun because we train, we laugh, it’s a different kind of sacrifice,” Ronaldo

Ultimately, Ronaldo and Ngannou are some of the best to have ever done it in their respective sports. And with both sportsmen having left a huge legacy, it is only natural for them to gravitate towards each other.

But whether Ngannou can use that support to pull off an upset remains to be seen. Time will tell. Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingblitz.
