Crawford Gives Spence An Ultimatum At 147, Fury Slams His Own Documentary

Terence Crawford has offered a take it or leave it offer to Errol Spence Jr. for a rematch at 147.

Following Bud’s win over Spence, when he stopped him in the ninth round, the latter exercised his right to a rematch. However, since Crawford won the first fight, he had the right to choose the weight class.

A rematch at 154 had been teased, however, Crawford is intent on fighting at 147. This is understandable since a fight at 154 does nothing for Bud’s legacy. Meanwhile, by staying at 147, Crawford is in a better position to win again.

Spence admitted that making welterweight was difficult, but a fight at 154 could still happen if the ‘Truth’ gave up more of his purse. But in reality, it appears that it is an ultimatum at 147 according to Crawford’s friend Steven Nelson

“He doesn’t owe Errol Spence nothing. People are like, ‘Man, he should give Errol a better chance at 154.’ Hey, it’s business. It’s a waste of time [Spence rematch]. So it’s 147 or nothing,” Steven Nelson said 

In response, Crawford’s intentions appear to be on fighting Canelo Alvarez. That would require him to move up three weight classes in order to take on the Mexican for all of his belts at 168 pounds. A win would make Bud undisputed in a third weight class and put him down as one of the best of all-time.

“A lot of people say, ‘Why does Bud want to go to 168 and not 154.’ If he goes to 154, then he’ll only go up two weight classes to try and do something that has already been done before, but nobody has gone up three weight classes to try and win. So, it’s history & legacy, and it’s more money than will be to fight a rematch with Errol Spence. It’ll be hard to sell that. It’s going to be hard to sell a rematch, whether it’s at 147 or 154,” Nelson stated 

Fury Slams His Documentary

Elsewhere, Tyson Fury has been left unhappy with his Netflix reality series, ‘At Home With The Fury’s, despite the series having reached number one on the Netflix UK charts. The premise of the show was to focus on the life of Fury and his family from his town of Morcombe.

And as part of that process, boxing fans would see the progression that the boxer has made since his win over Wladimir Klitschko, the subsequent battles with depression and then substance abuse.

Thereafter, Fury’s comeback resulted in a win over Deontay Wilder to claim the WBC belt. Despite that being the case, Fury was not that impressed with the project even if it could have been a flippant remark.
