Cobbs Knocks Out Broner’s Tooth In A Dominant Win – ‘Sad End To A Career’

Blair Cobbs dominated Adrien Broner to coast to a unanimous decision win in their welterweight clash.
The fight was seen as a last-chance saloon for Broner, who was looking to rediscover the form that made him a four-division champion. However, Broner looked far from that man, as Cobbs was on the front foot. Before the fight, Broner was talking a big game. He vowed to give it everything, even claiming he was willing to die in the ring.
Pre-Fight Comments
“Sometimes, you just have to make everyone a believer. A lot of people have turned their back on me and shut their doors on me. What I once thought was a revolving door didn’t have an entrance from the back.I had to keep coming in the front. There was only one man who would take a chance on me, and that was Don King.
“That door stayed open, and I came in, and now I am here. I apologize, Don, but I want to thank you because you’re the only one who is putting 100s back in my pocket. I am here to put my life on the line. On June 7 I am not coming to just put on a show for the fans. I am coming to die if I have to,” Broner
I just cannot wait to get my hands on Adrien Broner. Look, he had a good run, but now it’s time for his demise. We are fighting for a great belt. A belt that’s only for you, the fans. It’s only for you, the people. The People’s Championship. We have a great night coming for you. Come Friday night, June 7, stars are going to align, and somehow, Adrien Broner is going to show up. We all know what’s going to happen. It’s a…whooping. Broner looked himself in the mirror and said “woo” three times and knocked himself out,” Cobbs
Cobbs Drops Broner
But it was Cobbs who lived up to his words. The 34-year-old dropped Broner in the second round, landing a huge left hand to the head. AB got up from the canvas, but his tooth was knocked out, showing his uphill task. Broner was hurt as Cobbs backed him up on the ropes, letting fly with combinations. As Broner covered his head, Cobbs peppered the body as he attempted to get the stoppage.
Had Cobbs not gassed out and had more time, there was a chance the fight could have been stopped. The success continued as Cobbs worked Broner’s body with his jabs and lefts. By the sixth round, Broner had lost every round. That left AB with no choice but to get a knockout.
But in doing so, he risked leaving himself open. Cobbs continued his work, outlanding Broner, whose punches lacked any menace. As the fight went to the championship rounds, Broner attempted to step on the gas. But in truth, Cobbs had done enough to win, as shown on the scorecards: 97-91, 96-93, 96-93
