Chisora Blasts Dubois For Quitting Against Usyk, Usyk On Dubois’ Trainer

Derek Chisora has hit out at Daniel Dubois’ approach to fighting Oleksandr Usyk

Dubois was stopped in the ninth round after being dropped a round before, as Usyk retained his WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles. However, prior to that, Dubois was on the cusp of victory.

He managed to drop Usyk with a brutal body shot in the fifth round only for the referee to declare it a low blow, much to the disappointment of the Brit.

Although the shot by Dubois raised discussions in the aftermath of whether it was a low blow, Chisora has hit out at the boxer’s actual reaction to getting knocked down.

Prior to the fight, Dubois vowed to use his physicality. And yet, when it came to Chisora, he saw anything but that.

Chisora On Dubois

“Let me be honest. The only best shot he got was that body shot. Everything else was wack. I don’t know why he didn’t use his body, wrestle the guy, f—— bully him. He did not do that. He tried to make it f—— cute. “They don’t use their size, you know why? Because they are a bunch of p——,” Chisora

Those comments do hold some weight when we look at Chisora’s own performance against Usyk. The former managed to go the distance with the Ukrainian. As such, many outlined his performance as a way to fight the unified heavyweight champion.

Although Chisora did not get stopped, Usyk did admit that he took his foot off the pedal in order to get Anthony Joshua to agree to fight him. Therefore, Chisora’s comments have to be read in light of the following comments.

Usyk On Chisora

“Let people watch my fight with Derek Chisora and think what they used to think. Yes, this is true [I took my foot off the gas],” Usyk

Dubois’ Trainer

Ultimately, Usyk is undefeated for a reason and no one has managed to find the blueprint to beat him. And there is no getting away from that.

Meanwhile, Usyk has downplayed the role of Dubois’ trainer James Ali Bashi on his performance.

Ali is someone who is well aware of Usyk, given that he had trained him while he was in the pros for three years. Therefore, there would have been enough information available to form a plan on Usyk.

Although Dubois did end up falling short, his performance was praised due to the controversial body shot that led to Usyk being floored even if it was declared a low blow.

But rather than that being anything to do with Ali, Usyk felt that his former coach could not have taught Dubois any inside secrets on how to beat him.

“James Ali Basher is a great person. He’s a famous person. He’s a good man. But he wouldn’t teach Dubois any secrets because he knows none of them. Though we worked together for long time, he couldn’t [teach] me [anything personally].

“He didn’t know me [personally]. That’s why he couldn’t tell that corner any secrets that I have because he just doesn’t know them. I will tell you the person who knows me real, who knows me like I am. I wouldn’t tell you it’s my mom, but it’s my wife. She knows who I am,” Usyk

Nevertheless, boxing fans did learn a thing or two. Usyk did look vulnerable to the body. And this is something which Tyson Fury could exploit.

Meanwhile, given that Usyk is 36-years-old, he is entering into the latter parts of his career. Therefore, there are question marks over whether he is slowing down.

But until he actually sufferers a defeat, the Ukrainian remains one of the best in the division. As such, a loss to a future-hall-of famer is nothing to be disappointed about.
