In the latest boxing news, Brian McIntyre, Terence Crawford’s trainer, has opened up about his recent arrest and release from HMP Birmingham Prison in the UK.

The trainer had been in the UK for his boxer Chris Eubank Jr’s win over Liam Smith, only to suffer from issues on the way back to the United States.

Bomac was apprehend at Manchester Airport after the authorities found a firearm in his luggage. In the aftermath, McIntyre was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.

And after having been apprehend in custody, there was a chance that the trainer could have faced five years in prison. However, after having pled guilty, McIntyre was given a 20-month suspended sentence.

“BREAKING: Brian “BoMac” McIntyre is a FREE MAN having been given a 20-month SUSPENDED prison sentence. Terence Crawford was one of a number of people to give in-person evidence at today’s hearing. The sentence is suspended for a period of two years. I am now going to the pub,” on X via @OliverGMcManus

Bomac’s Reponse

And now that the dust has settled down somewhat, Bomac looked back at the circumstances that led to the whole incident happening.

“Man, I’m gonna be honest with you. I got caught with a firearm at the airport in my luggage going underneath. Obviously, it was an honest mistake. I forgot that it was in there, it had been in there a couple of months, since May, since we got into camp with Terence. With the grace of God and a lot of prayers from the fans and my family, I was just at peace. You know, I wouldn’t try to do anything wrong. I did break the law over there, but it’s common for us Americans to carry guns. I carry two or three of them at a time, sometimes,” McIntyre said

Now that the incident has been put on the back burner, Bomac’s main focus will be on his fighters. Crawford is by all accounts preparing for the Errol Spence Jr. rematch after the latter decided to exercise his match clause.

The bout still has a few pressing issues that need resolving, such as the weight class, fight date and venue. Although those issues are not expected to be a stumbling block, provided that both fighters agree terms, Bomac was adamant that the outcome would remain the same. And he backed Crawford to show once again why the boxer is the pound-for-pound number one in the world.

Bomac On Spence-Crawford

“I would say even at 160. If it happened at 160, if it happened at 147 if it happened at 122 lbs, it’s still going to be the same damn thing. It could be. The Canelo fight could be, but from what I hear, I think he’s got two fights that are scheduled already, so we’ll see,” Bomac stated

So moving forward, Bomac has plenty of things to direct his focus towards. And getting back to winning ways will be the main priority moving forward.
