Blair Cobbs Calls Haney A Coward For His Reaction To The Garcia Fight

Blair Cobbs hit out at Devin Haney, calling him a coward, following his reaction to the Ryan Garcia fight.

Haney boxed Garcia in April in one of the biggest fights this year. He came up short, losing a majority decision after hitting the canvas three times. That was the first defeat of his career in one of the major upsets in boxing history. However, the result was turned into a no-contest following Garcia’s failed VADA tests for Ostarine. Garcia received a year ban, so he cannot box until April 2025. Haney and Garcia have indicated their desire to run things back, setting up a potential huge rematch next year. However, Haney has come under fire for his behavior since this failed test.

Cobbs On Haney

“Everybody saw how you guys acted with the Ryan ass whooping. You could react better taking a loss. Since you wanted to act the way you were, I didn’t start acting like a coward after a loss. I bounced back. You think you could handle someone like me? You remember that ass whooping, right? Come and get it, and I’ll take those pillow hands, and stuff it up your [blank] and show you what it really is, a coward. Do something about it,” Cobbs said

Haney sued Garcia for fraud, battery and unjust enrichment, arguing that his commercial brand had been damaged. He also named Golden Boy Promotions in the lawsuit, wanting an audit to see whether he had been paid what he was owed from the fight. Tim Bradley came out to call the move soft, while the perception on social media is that Haney is failing to move on from this. Haney is back in the gym with speculation over who he fights next. There was speculation that Hobbs had gotten the better of Haney during sparring, which has given the latter confidence.

Cobbs’ Aims

Hobbs stated that he is keen on fighting Haney and would welcome the opportunity to give him a good beating. And he recalled how Garcia had done the same, setting the narrative for a potential fight. Cobbs is coming off a unanimous decision win against Adrien Broner last year. Broner talked a big game, stating that he would punish Cobbs for his trash talk during the pre-fight build-up.

However, Broner showed he was not up to Cobbs’ level as the latter dropped him to the canvas. That was a massive win for Cobbs against a four-weight world champion. However, despite the links with Haney, there have been no talks. Cobbs admitted that he has been linked with bouts against Conor Benn and Jaron Ennis. But he was also open to facing Garcia in what would be a mega fight for his career. And he was looking forward to the opportunity to move forward.

“If I could fight anyone, it would be Ryan Garcia. I can wait, but it would be a fight worth waiting for. I’d take a tune-up and then fight Ryan Garcia. I’d push out a heavy promotion. Once I win that fight, my star status will go up tenfold, twentyfold, and probably a hundredfold,” Blair added
