Belal Calls McGregor A 'Junkie' For Mocking His UFC 310 Withdrawal

Belal Muhammad has called Conor McGregor a ‘junkie’ for his reaction towards his UFC 310 withdrawal with a bone infection in his foot.

Muhammad was on course to defend his UFC Welterweight Title against Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 on December 7. This would have been Belal’s first defense of his title, which he picked up by beating Leon Edwards at UFC 304. The victory extended his record to ten wins out of his last 11, with one no-contest. Muhammad has not lost in the UFC since 2019, when he came out second best to Geoff Neal in a unanimous decision loss.

Belal’s Injury

“Caught a bone infection in my foot .. had to put a picc line in my arm for iv antibiotics the next 6 weeks with no physical activity … Allahs plan is the best plan I’m sorry to everyone that were coming to see me Ill be back soon inshAllah,” Belal said

“Wishing Belal a quick recovery. We’ll meet when you’re back at 100%. For now, I’m ready to take on any contender for the interim title at #UFC310,” Rakhmonov stated

Belal would have faced a top contender in Rakhmonov, who is currently undefeated. Rakhmonov is 6-0, with all his wins coming inside the distance. His last bout was a second-round submission win against Stephen Thompson at UFC 296. McGregor has been critical of Belal in the past, calling him a boring fighter. The Irishman has even called him out, with Belal open to making that fight. The current injury means that Belal cannot train for around six months. McGregor responded with some laughing emojis, forcing Belal to respond.

Belal Vs. McGregor

McGregor is also suffering from his injury issues, having not had a UFC fight since 2021. He lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, breaking his leg in the process. He has lost his last three out of four fights. The Irishman pulled out of his UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler with a broken toe. McGregor then confirmed he was set to face Dan Hooker on February 1 in Saudi Arabia next year. The UFC has not confirmed this, leaving McGregor more frustrated. The UFC has reportedly turned their attention towards asking Alex Pereira to fill in.

Alex already did this at UFC 303 when McGregor pulled out of the Chandler fight. Pereira took the fight and stopped Jiri Prochazka on short notice to successfully defend his UFC Light Heavyweight Title. Alex is coming off another successful KO win, stopping Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307. The Brazilian indicated after the victory that he would take some time off before deciding his next move. That means having another fight in December would be very unlikely. Pereira has already fought three times this year, making him one of the most active fighters in the sport. MMA fans had plenty to say over what they wanted to see at UFC 310.
