Adrien Broner has publicly defended longtime advisor Al Haymon in the wake of Floyd Mayweather’s $340 million fraud lawsuit.

While Mayweather’s legal team targets Showtime Networks and Stephen Espinoza for allegedly diverting fight earnings to Haymon-controlled accounts, Broner took to social media to make his stance clear: he’s sticking by the man who has managed his career for over a decade. Broner—the former four-division world champion—rejected the idea of ever taking legal action against Haymon, regardless of any potential financial discrepancies.

“Floyd is one of boxing’s biggest pay-per-view draws. He generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for Showtime. Mr. Mayweather now takes this fight to the courtroom to recover what he rightfully earned. Retiring undefeated at 50-0, Mr. Mayweather will go the distance in the courtroom just as he has in the ring,” Bobby Samini (Mayweather’s attorney)

“Call me dumb or brainwashed, I would never take legal action against Al Haymon. I am a loyal individual… if I’m owed any money, oh well, man, he kept me satisfied,” Broner said

The Implications

Broner credited Haymon for supporting him through numerous “cash shortages” and personal legal troubles throughout his career, implying that the advisor’s personal support outweighed any contractual disputes. The timing of Broner’s defense is notable because Al Haymon is conspicuously absent from the defendant list in Mayweather’s lawsuit.

The fact that Broner is defending Haymon while Mayweather is suing Showtime (and not Haymon directly) creates a complex situation. Mayweather’s team alleges that Showtime and Stephen Espinoza helped divert funds to Haymon-controlled accounts. Broner’s vocal support serves as a “character witness” in the court of public opinion, painting Haymon as a positive figure rather than a predatory one.

If Mayweather’s lawsuit hinges on proving that Haymon’s business practices were inherently deceptive, Broner’s testimony—even if just on social media—offers a counter-narrative. If other “Haymon fighters” follow Broner’s lead and refuse to cooperate or claim they were never defrauded, it becomes much harder for Mayweather to prove his case.
