Zuckerberg Reacts To Musk’s UFC Diss, Jake Paul and McGregor React

Mark Zuckerberg has reacted to Elon Musk’s claims that any potential cage fight between the pair would be done without the UFC.

Following their social media verbals, the anticipation over a cage fight increased after Zuckerberg demanded a location.

Thereafter, the talk turned towards whether a venue could be agreed. Musk confirmed that talks had been held to have a fight at the Colosseum, Rome.

However, this would be on the grounds that the UFC were not involved. Instead, any such fight would be done with Musk and Zuckerberg’s foundations.

Elon On The Zuckerberg Fight

“The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC). Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all. I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location. Everything done will pay respect to the past and present of Italy. And all proceeds go to veterans,” Musk said

That narrative, however, has been countered by Zuckerberg who confirmed that Elon’s statements had to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Zuckerberg On Musk

“I love this sport and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on. Not holding my breath for Elon, but I’ll share details on my next fight when I’m ready.

“When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional orgs like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card,” Zuckerberg

Paul On Musk-Zuckerberg

One man who has not been so optimistic about the whole thing has been none other than Jake Paul.

The ‘Problem Child’ is well aware of what it takes to put on mega events.

His fights with Tommy Fury and Nate Diaz generated a lot of buzz as the ‘Problem Child’ continues to bring in new fans to the sport of boxing.

Although that may be the case, Paul and Dana White have not had the best of relationships when it comes to their interactions.

Paul has accused White of not doing enough to ensure that UFC fighters are getting recompensed well.

In addition, White has previously accused Paul of using steroids following his boxing success. So the fact that White was keen to put on Musk v Zuckerberg was mocked by Paul following the Tesla CEO’s comments about wanting to work outside of the UFC.

“It’s real. They do want to fight. It’s real… It’s funny because we were talking about the Colosseum for that fight and I actually did have a meeting with the Minister of Culture’s team in Italy to actually hold that fight in the Colosseum if it would happen. We’re talking,” White

In response, this is what Paul had to say: “Elon Musk is the real boss of bosses. Meanwhile Dana White selling Musk Zuck t-shirts. This is how you do it. All to charity. Would be amazing to use some of the proceeds to setup a pension plan for fighters. Elon – I am all in to help in any way,” Paul

McGregor On Musk-Zuckerberg

However, Conor McGregor has welcomed the idea of the UFC not getting involved.

Those comments come at a time when McGregor’s own future in the sport is unclear. Despite links with a fight against Michael Chandler this year, the fight has not been made.

McGregor has failed to enter into USADA’s testing pool, which requires athletes to submit two negative samples over a six-month period to compete.

And given that he has been out of the sport since 2021, after his injury and loss to Dustin Poirier, fans could have forgiven McGregor for welcoming such a fight. And yet, McGregor had done anything but that.

“I could not be less interested in this. I am so happy that the UFC will not be involved,” McGregor stated

Ultimately, there is still a long way to go before a Musk vs. Zuckerberg fight happens. And given that there a whole host of issues that need resolving, fans may have to wait longer.

Aside from whether or not the UFC will be involved, there is the issue of the weight class that needs to be resolved. After all, both fighters walk around at different weight, as Musk is heavier.

In addition, which outlets will host the fight? And until this is all resolved, fans will be left none the wiser. And that cannot be a good thing for the sport.
