Yamin PK Saenchai and Joachim Ouraghi got off to dream starts for their time in ONE Championship. Both men made statements during their debuts in the flyweight Muay Thai division. It’s the best feeling in combat sports to open your time with an explosive victory.

But online boxing news shows that such a performance brings a certain expectation for future excitement. Ouraghi and Yamin will meet

Friday at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. Ouraghi, a French fighter, made a splash during his debut at ONE Friday Fights 48.

Ouraghi made a short work of Gingsanglek Tor Laksong. He used a devastating left hook to the body and forced a stoppage to the bout in the second round. Yamin needed some more time to take care of Jinhu Zhang.

Yamin used a stiff elbow to knock his opponent out 23 seconds into the third round. Both men wanted to use their strengths and try to earn an early stoppage in this bout as well. They set the standard with how they debuted with the promotion. The question that may haunt both fighters is whether they are capable of constantly producing such exciting fights.

This event will feature 12 fights; 10 of them will be Muay Thai fights, and two will be MMA. Most of the scheduled Muay Thai fights have been scheduled at a catchweight instead of one division in particular.

Welcome to the Big Show

The MMAfighting latest news shows that the co-main event will feature a classic type of fight. Yodthongthai Sor Sommai is a former three-division Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai champion and will take on newcomer Petnamngam PK Saenchai. That fight will be set up for a 130-pound catchweight.

Yodhthongthai has to be feeling good about himself. He is coming off a knockout win in February. Still, Yodthongthai won’t want to get too comfortable. Anything can happen in Muay Thai, and his young opponent, who doesn’t have a lot of information available about him, could have some surprises in store.

Rambong Eager to Keep Up Momentum

Rambong Sor Therapat has carved out a nice career for himself in ONE. Rambong was willing to take on all comers in 2023. The best MMA news sites show that Rambong fought six times last year.

While Rambong took a pair of losses, there was plenty for him to be happy about. Rambong knocked out his opponents in three of his four wins last season. There will be a new challenge ahead of Rambong this Friday night.

He will have to take on promotional newcomer Petphupa Aekpujean.

Keep Knocking Them Down

Kaimookkhao Tor Rangmart showed off a special kind of dominance during his last Muay Thai bout in ONE. Every time his opponent tried to return to his feet at ONE Friday Fights 49, Kaimookkao sent him sprawling back down to his backside.

During the second round, Kaimookkao brought a fight to a stop due to the three-knockdown rule. The latest boxing news shows that Kaimookkao may never be able to turn that performance in again. However, forcing a stoppage may be possible.

His opponent, Petparuehat Sitnayoktaweeptaphong, hasn’t been involved in the same style of fights while in ONE. Petparuehat lost his last fight at ONE Friday Fights 35 by decision.

Kholmirzaev Hopes to Build Legend

Avazbek Kholmirzaev introduced himself nicely to the ONE Championship fanbase during ONE Friday Fights 50. Kolmirzaev leaned on his strong wrestling while competing with Leandro Gomes. MMA news sites show that Khomirzaev put Gomes under pressure for nearly the entire first round.

Late in the first round, Gomes wilted under the pressure. Kholmirzaev was able to capitalize with a guillotine choke with 20 seconds left in the round to secure his fourth straight victory. Kholmirzaev has made a habit of not getting the judges involved, finishing all seven of his professional victories.

Kholmirzaev’s next opponent, Zayundin Suleymanov, is coming off the first major disappointment of his MMA career. He suffered his first professional loss last time out when he was taken to a decision by Sanzhar Zakirov. Previously, Suleymanov was also known for finishing fights.

Five of his six victories have come by knockout. This should be an explosive fight, with both men looking to add more plaudits to their resume.

Su Hwan Oh Eager to Prove Himself

In mixed martial arts, it is difficult to tell how a fighter will perform when going from promotion to promotion. There are certain ‘can’t miss’ prospects who would be legitimate challengers anywhere in the world. However, many people find it difficult to go from regional promotions to more established major promotions.

South Korean prospect Su Hwan Oh will soon be able to answer the question of what type of potential he has. Oh is 5-1-1 in his career and has won two straight fights. He isn’t necessarily a fighter who looks to finish every contest.

Oh has won two of his career bouts by decision. One of his two knockouts occurred when his opponent suffered a knee injury. Fortunately for Oh, he is paired with a Japanese fighter who is also making his debut in the promotion.

Kazumichi Murai is 5-3 in his career. He appeared to be trending upward until he hit a bump during his last fight. During a wild back-and-forth fight with Hiroki Kishino in the Fighting NEXUS promotion, he lost his first to Kishino by majority decision.

That loss snapped a four-fight winning streak for Murai.

Here are other fights on the card not mentioned above:

  • Muay Thai catchweight, Pettasuea Seeopal vs. Prom Yor Andaman
  • Muay Thai strawweight, Luapong Kaewsamrit vs Yodkitti FiatPathum
  • Muay Thai catchweight, Siwakorn PK Saenchai vs Shakhriyor Jurayev
  • Muay Thai catchweight, Copter Sor Sommai vs Takuma Ota
  • Muay Thai catchweight, Petsimok PK Saenchi vs Yuki Kasahara
  • Muay Thai catchweight, Petnamkhong Mongkolpet vs Ikko Ota
