Woodley Frustrated After Mayweather Fight Broke Down

Tyron Woodley has revealed that he missed out on boxing Floyd Mayweather

The former UFC Welterweight Champion’s last fight in any form was a stoppage loss to Jake Paul in their boxing rematch. Since then, he has been linked with various fights. He first revealed that he was in talks to fight Manny Pacquiao. The eight-division champion has been dabbling in exhibitions following his retirement in 2021 when he lost to Yordenis Ugas.

Most recently, Pacman had a three-round exhibition against Rukiya Anpo in Japan. Although there was no official result, Pacman looked way past his best, as he was still considering a comeback. Woodley missed out on the Manny fight, as Ryan Garcia is now the leading favorite to take that exhibition.

Woodley’s Frustration

“I don’t want it all to fall off the table from greed. It’s really greed. He’s getting a handsome-a…purse. So he wants more…and you made x-amount of dollars in your prime, but this is a different type of fight…I’m on the opposite end.

“Every fight now, I’m making more than when I was in my UFC prime…I’m making more each fight, and that’s what I’m looking forward to. I’m a little different, I’m willing to budge a little bit because I’m still gonna make more every single time…he’s been a little ‘thot’ out there, facing off with someone else…keep your body safe for me, so I can beat it up,” Woodley said

Now, Woodley suffered the same fate against Mayweather. Floyd chose to rematch John Gotti III following their first bout. Their first fight ended in a brawl after the referee called it off for foul language. Gotti did not take the decision well, as he started swinging after the bell. Mayweather covered himself on the ropes as the two teams had a brawl.

Gotti was banned for six months, setting the narrative for a rematch. Mayweather took the rematch, which was a one-sided affair as Gotti failed to muster up much resistance. In his post-fight comments, Mayweather said he could have three more exhibitions lined up. Woodley’s name could come up in that conversation, but for the time being, he was left frustrated by the missed opportunity.

“I took some time off, and then I had some guys [pull] out. I was supposed to fight Floyd in June. It was never supposed to be Gotti. That fight was me originally. I was supposed to fight KSI in January last year. He flaked out and took Dillon Danis…I got offered to fight you, Mike. I’m pretty sure you got offered to fight me. I said, I’m not fighting my dog for no…peanuts. If we was gonna fight for real, we would have fought in the UFC. And that’s a hard ass fight, he at the top of the game,” Woodley stated

Woodley’s other option could be to run things back with Jake Paul. They have had two boxing fights, but the Problem Child wants to make his PFL debut. With no UFC contract stopping him, Woodley’s name has been mentioned as Paul’s PFL opponent. But for now, Woodley appears no closer to getting another fight.
