Will Eddie Hearn Retire Following Dana White’s Boxing League?

Eddie Hearn has addressed rumors that he could retire from boxing following Dana White, TKO and the Saudis new boxing league.
Hearn has established himself as one of the leading boxing promoters in the world. He broke into the American market following his British dominance. He recently expanded his global profile with his DAZN deal. This allowed him to partner up with Turki Alalshikh and the Saudis. Together, they have put on some of the biggest boxing events in the sport. The two Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol fights and Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou are examples.
He has also opened up relationships with Frank Warren, having previously struggled to agree to do any deals. However, the Saudis’ announcement with Dana White over a new boxing league raises question marks over Hearn’s future. Turki Alalshikh made it clear that their intention was to crush all the other promotions. White was also on record saying that he does not plan on working with the other boxing promoters. His aim is to follow the UFC model.
Hearn and Warren enabled Turki Alalshikh to learn the boxing business. But that has now allowed him to potentially drive Hearn out of business. A social media post from a parody account suggested that Hearn was going to retire from the sport. The promoter has many ventures outside of boxing, including darts and snooker, meaning that he has plenty to keep himself occupied with.
Hearn Reacts
However, Hearn recently confirmed that he is not worried about the new venture. He felt that competition would only increase the quality of the sport, even if he did have some disagreements over having one belt. And Hearn was clear that he had no plans of going anywhere, as he was still focused on making more inroads in boxing.
“There was a Twitter account… they put up that, ‘Eddie Hearn has decided he’s going to walk away from the game. A lot of people didn’t know it was a parody account. I had a lot of messages, from some of my fighters as well: ‘What? Not yet, you’ve got so much more to give.’ “I’m like, ‘Guys, I’m 45, chill out.’ I’m really enjoying where boxing’s at right now. I really do live and breathe it, so I’m not going anywhere yet.
“I think that Turki gets very excited with his announcements and he’s a funny guy. When he says about crushing promoters and leaving them on Alcatraz, I don’t think that’s a sign of his intent, but just that he’s a bit of a wind-up merchant. I’ve got a lot of questions about it and I can’t help being a little bit bullish.I want to continue working with His Excellency and I want to work with Dana White and those guys but, if not, don’t worry about me, we’re just fine. And if anyone wants a fight, we’re up for that as well,” Hearn said
