Wilder Vs. Ngannou Talks Underway, Hearn Wants AJ Vs. Ngannou/Fury

In today’s boxing news, Deontay Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott has stated that talks have begun with Francis Ngannou over a boxing fight.

The comments came following Ngannou’s performance against Tyson Fury. While the former UFC heavyweight champion came out second best in a split-decision defeat, Ngannou was deemed to be the winner amongst some of the boxing community.

And prior to facing Fury, Ngannou had been linked with a bout against Wilder in boxing and MMA. With that being said, it appears that those talks have now rekindled.

“We’re already in communications about it. He’s an option now, and we’re going to see where things go. Yeah, absolutely. Me personally, I believe he’s willing to do good business. I talked to Deontay about it. I believe he’s right there to be hit by Deontay. He’s mature and poised, and for a guy with no professional fights as a boxer, he’s still big and strong.

“In my opinion, he’s very dangerous. He’s a high-risk fight for anybody. I believe him being that big, it puts him in line to be hit by Deontay with a bomb. We’ll write it up to get him out of there if the opportunity comes. I think Ngannou is a lot more dangerous than [Andy] Ruiz. Yeah, absolutely, from what I saw last night with what he showcased. He showed patience, he showed punching power,” Scott

Hearn On AJ’s Next Fight

Much in the same way, Eddie Hearn has also called for a bout with Ngannou by suggesting a fight with Anthony Joshua. The Matchroom Boxing promoter was very vocal about how Ngannou should have been given the victory.

In response, Hearn suggested that Fury either give Ngannou a rematch, which was deserved. And outside of that, a bout with AJ was suggested with either Fury or Ngannou. And in doing so, Hearn dismissed the Fury fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

“Let A.J. go in there and end (Fury’s) career, please,” Hearn said. “Or Ngannou has earned the right for a big fight. Let A.J. go in and knock Ngannou out inside three rounds. Not a problem. Forget about Fury-Usyk – dead fight. No one’s interested in that fight at all. I cannot believe what I was watching. Fury didn’t even try. Ngannou is so tired, all he had to do was step on him.

“Scrap everything and just make A.J. vs. Fury now. I’m telling you now: A.J. will beat him comfortably, and he will stop him and finish his career – I’m telling you. If they have to do Fury vs. Usyk – which look, it’s still undisputed, but he just lost to a bloke that’s never boxed before – then let Ngannou fight A.J. See what happens. See what happens when someone lets their hands go on Francis Ngannou properly. But listen: Props to Ngannou. But awful. Absolutely awful,” Hearn

Clearly, Ngannou is a man in demand given the huge fanbase that he has now managed to acquire from the boxing world. So, moving forward, there could be plenty of big fights coming up.
