Wilder Reacts To Fury Vs. Ngannou – ‘Maybe He Did Cheat’
In the latest boxing news, Deontay Wilder has given his take on Tyson Fury’s fight against Francis Ngannou.
The former WBC heavyweight champion is well aware of what it takes to face Fury, having been in the ring three times with the Gypsy King.
Despite this being the case, Wilder has failed to beat Fury on a single occasion. The closest that the Bronze Bomber had come to achieving it was in the first fight when Fury got up from the canvas in round 12 to secure a draw.
In the following two fights, however, Wilder was stopped. The American was not best pleased in the aftermath, as he accused Fury of having loaded gloves.
Although that may have been the case, the boxing authorities failed to establish such a thing, leaving Wilder looking as though the loss had impacted him.
Wilder On Fury’s Gloves
“I saw in the first fight when Ricky Hatton was pulling down your gloves to put your hand in the improper position. Y’all tried the same method the second time, but this time, you scratched flesh out of my ears which caused my ears to bleed. It’s impossible for a brand new 10 ounce glove to bend, to keep a smushed in form or to have loose space. I highly believe you put something had in your glove. Something the size and the shape of an egg weight,” Wilder
Those comments were then mentioned by Ngannou, who doubled down on Wilder’s belief that Fury may have been crossing the line when it came to the boxing rules.
“He’s very tricky with his glove. I think he cheats. We are talking about it with the team, and they’re like, ‘Oh, there’s the UK commission with the gloves. I’m like, ‘Bro, we’re going to get there, we need every glove to be checked.’, ” Ngannou stated
And now that the dust has settled down somewhat, Wilder’s brought up those prior comments once again. Fury’s failure to stop Ngannou, coupled with the fact that the boxer had been dropped by the MMA fighter himself, led Wilder to believe that perhaps Fury may have been using questionable tactics during their fight.
Wilder On Fury-Ngannou
“I had a lot of texts and people calling me about it, especially when he got dropped. After the fight, a lot of people were figuring out what was going on – [with people saying to me], ‘Maybe he did cheat [when he fought you], maybe he did have something in his gloves.’ All these things are coming up now. Everybody’s saying he [Fury] lost and, ‘Deontay, we need you back,’ and how boring boxing is, the heavyweight division is crumbling and falling. I’m coming,” Wilder
Aside from Wilder’s boxing return, the fighter has admitted that he is open to facing Ngannou in boxing and MMA. Prior to Ngannou’s fight with Fury, Wilder had been in talks to face the MMA fighter.
However, Fury would take the fight instead. But that has not prevented Wilder from pursuing it later down the line.
“People don’t know me and Francis was supposed to fight first. Certain things came up, all I can say is it’s business. That fight took place, which is cool because Francis has made a name for himself… I’m thinking about doing both, UFC and boxing. I’ll be a dangerous man in the UFC with those four-ounce gloves.
“I broke the hitting machine with those four-ounce gloves. That was some real stuff. I think it’s the competitive side of me, wanting to do both. Get in there, and just show the ability of what I can do. I don’t think there’s nothing cooler than being a champion in both [sports],” Wilder revealed
