Wilder And Ruiz Restart Talks, Wilder Willing To Meet AJ

In some top boxing news, Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr. have restarted talks for a fight in 2024 after initially parting ways.
The pair were first linked with a fight for what would have been a WBC title eliminator. And the winner would have had the chance to face Tyson Fury for the belt.
Despite the fight being ordered, the boxers failed to agree on a split. Wilder’s offer of 70-30 was knocked back, as Ruiz continued to demand 50-50.
Talks then broke down, with the title eliminator being scrapped. But since then, both fighters have struggled to find an opponent, which is why the resumption of talks could not have come at a better time.
Wilder’s last fight was against Robert Helenius over a year ago when the Bronze Bomber stopped his opponent in the first round. Meanwhile, Ruiz has not fought since he beat an ageing Luis Ortiz. With that being said, talks have now begun.
“That fight is not lost. These guys get on my nerves, but yeah, we’re back in talks. There was a lot of apologizing; we’ll see what happens,” said Wilder
Nevertheless, it is also important to bear in mind the following point. Ruiz recently confirmed that he had undergone surgery, without disclosing the nature of the issue. While the Mexican is aiming to fight in 2024, there is always a risk that the boxer could suffer an injury on his comeback.
“Hey guys, I just got done working out. Five days out of my surgery, and we’re back in the gym, feeling good, feeling blessed, and I can’t wait to get back in the ring. 2024 is my year, baby, it’s my year. Remember that. I had a little minor setback for a major comeback, and we’re coming, baby. Let’s get it,” Ruiz stated
If a fight with Ruiz fails to get made, then Wilder has lined up the Anthony Joshua fight. Despite the fight failing to get made in Saudi Arabia, both boxers have expressed their desire to make it happen.
So much so that the American is willing to even consider flying to UK in order to have face-to-face talks in an attempt to get the fight over the line.
“I just don’t know what’s up with Joshua. Maybe I’m gonna have to go to England and sit down with him on some real man sh!t… I don’t want him to feel like I have anything against him, but I know he’s afraid of me. Joshua, me and you is the biggest fight in the world bro, what are you doing? I really wanna talk to that dude,” Wilder stated
Ultimately, Wilder will be looking to get active as soon as possible. The former WBC heavyweight champion of the world is not getting any younger.
And at the age of 38, Wilder does not have too many years left at the top of the sport. And there is no getting away from that moving forward.
