Wilder And Joshua – Where Do They Go Next?

Deontay Wilder has blasted Andy Ruiz Jr.’s 50-50 demands as talks over a fight continue to stall.

Reports indicated that Wilder’s team had offered a 70-30 split, which was knocked back by Ruiz Jr’s father, Ruiz Sr.

This was due to the fact that both fighters were not champions as of this moment. As such, Ruiz Sr. was looking to command an even split.

“They want Andy to accept a ridiculous amount. Andy is not just any boxer, he was the first Mexican heavyweight world champion in history. Wilder wants to offer 30 percent,” Ruiz Sr.

In response, Wilder spoke about how the two fighters were not on the same level. Wilder has had 10 title defenses when he was the WBC heavyweight champion.

This included a fight against Tyson Fury, whom he lost the belt to despite three fight attempts. In contrast, Ruiz lost his belts immediately in the rematch to Anthony Joshua

Not only that, but Wilder is a bigger name globally having also been linked to fights in Saudi Arabia.

“They are talking about a 50-50, you ain’t nobody compared to me, bro, you were only a champion for a very short time, so stop that,” Wilder

Joshua vs. Whyte

Although Wilder may be struggling to get a fight, Anthony Joshua could be a step closer.

Following the news that Joshua’s team had dropped a rematch clause, as per the request of Dillian Whyte, the latter has now reportedly signed the agreement.

This would keep the Brit’s hopes alive of fighting on August 12th, 2023, which would be the ideal preparation for a potential Wilder fight in Saudi Arabia.

This is particularly since Joshua has only had one fight with his current trainer, Derrick James as they teamed up for his win over Jermaine Franklin.

Therefore, more fights will be needed for Joshua to adopt to James’ style of focusing on the fundamentals, something which ‘AJ’ has been accused of lacking.

So if Wilder and Joshua were to fight, it is vital that both boxers get a run out before any such battle. And that is the most important thing to remember moving forward.
