Whittaker And Cameron’s Fiery Roundtable Face-Off – ‘It’s Going To Be A War’

Ben Whittaker vs. Liam Cameron will have their rematch this weekend on April 20, as they had their roundtable face off.
Their first fight ended in mass controversy after it was stopped, resulting in a split-decision technical draw: 58-57, 57-58, and 58-58. This happened after both fighters fell over the ropes in the fifth round once Ben was backed up. Cameron was fine to continue. However, Whittaker required medical assistance as he later left the venue on a stretcher.
Cameron was disappointed not to get a win given to him since he had been dominating the fight prior to the incident. This led to suggestions that Whittaker had quit. Ben denied doing anything of the sort, saying the medical records showed he was injured. Whittaker’s brand took a lot of damage, while Cameron’s performace earned him a deal with Queensbury Promotions. Now, the pair will run things back as they had plenty to say.
Whittaker Reacts
“People saw what they saw, some people believe that happened and some people didn’t. But all I know is he ended up on top of me and I got injured. [Cameron] is very calculated about it, it’s very nice, but at the end of the day it’s a good job I’ve been doing gymnastics this time so if it does happen I can land on my feet. Everything. Spinal, like Mike Tyson said. I came out the ring with a whole body cast on. I broke my knee, fractured my shin, a little chip out of my neck as well.
“If the stick hits you, you are not cut out for it. Luckily, I was cut out for it. People talk about me because I am that guy, people say a lot of things about me because I am that guy. I am supposed to be that guy so they’re talking for a reason. I came from humble beginnings and I’m in a position now where I can change their lives, which is the best thing ever.
Further Quotes
“That’s what’s really grounding me and what makes me want to work hard. That is what makes me not cut corners because where I’m from in the Midlands you don’t really get given much, you have to go and get it yourself. That’s what I do,” Whittaker
“It’s [all] helped me to be strong [my struggles]. I wish I knew what I know now back then. I turned pro at 18.”It will be a good fight, it’s beautiful what is going to happen. It’s going to be a war, fans are going to be screaming. May the best man win. There will be no losing, so there’s no coping,” Cameron
