Warren Defends Fury After Rule-Breaking Claims

Frank Warren has disputed allegations that Tyson Fury broke the rules during his second fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury suffered his second defeat to Usyk, coming out second best in a unanimous decision. Fury refused to accept the result, again saying the scoring was wrong. This has created a negative perception around Fury, with suggestions he is a sore loser. But before the fight began, there were question marks over Fury’s conduct. The Gypsy King has been called out for having his shorts rolled up too high to give a false perception of where the naval line was.
Warren Reacts
Warren denied those claims by saying the referee had observed both fighters before they walked out. He also mentioned that Usyk’s team had not raised any objections. Warren also addressed suggestions that Fury’s beard was illegal. This was based on claims that the beard may have absorbed the impact of the punches and caused cuts to the opponent. But again, the referee did not raise any objections to that, as Fury continued the fight as normal. Warren has come out passionately to defend his fighter.
“One of the journalists talking about him wearing his shorts up to underneath his nipples… [what rubbish]is it. The referee came in the dressing room before the fight. The way he wore them was legal. Did you hear one complaint about that from the other side? None at all… some idiot in there who knows nothing about boxing coming out with that and it’s just, I don’t know, I just find it ridiculous some of this stuff. A non-issue. A total lot of crap and a non-issue. If it was illegal, then they wouldn’t have allowed him to wear his beard. How many fighters you seen get in the ring with beards?,” Warren said
Fury’s Brand
Warren also addressed the negative reaction that has emerged towards Fury. Fury has been called out for his general behavior towards Usyk. The build-up for the two fights resulted in lots of trash talk, with The Gypsy King calling him an ugly rat. Reporter Oliver Brown labelled Fury as a ‘petty thug.’ Warren defended his fighter, hitting back at the negative media coverage surrounding him. He could not understand why the scorecards did not have Fury winning, despite the boxing stats showing Usyk as the better fighter.
“One judge gave Usyk the last seven rounds. How on earth can anyone say he never won one round out of the last seven? I’m dumbfounded at the scoring,” Warren said
“I thought I won that fight again. I thought I won both fights but I’m going home with two losses on my record. Not much I can do about it. I can just fight my heart out and do the best I can. I’ll believe until the day I die that I won that fight. I was aggressive, on the front foot all night, landing body and head,” Fury stated
