Warren Blasts Conspiracy Theories Over Fury's Cut, Tim Bradley Says 'I Smell Bull***t'

Frank Warren has slammed claims that Tyson Fury allowed a cut above his eye to postpone the Oleksandr Usyk fight.

The two boxers were meant to face off on February 17, only for Fury to pull out with an injury following an alleged elbow in sparring that made a cut over his right eye. This was the second time Fury withdrew from the fight after having done so last year when it was slated for December 23.

This was on the basis that he suffered bruising and cuts after the Francis Ngannou fight, during which he was sent to the canvas in the third round. The latest news means the fight has been pencilled in for March 18. It was also accompanied by further stipulations, penalising the fighters if they pulled out. They will have to pay $10 million if they withdraw, and Usyk can face any opponent if Fury backs out.

The postponement came after suggestions that Fury had been dropped in sparring by Jai Opetaia, fueling rumors this was a ploy by Fury to get out of the fight. Warren has immediately shut this down.

Warren On Fury

“Tyson wants [the fight]. Some of the stuff that’s been going out, I’ve never heard anything like it. Has Tyson got make-believe stitches in his eye? What they’re saying is libelous and scandalous. He’ll want to be with his family.

“He can’t continue training as such. He can tick over. [And] he can get on the bike and keep well but when you’re training for a fight, you’re training to reach your ultimate best, your peak. Now he has to wind down and set everything back in motion to get himself up and ready and make sure he’s at his best for 18 May,” Warren stated

Bradley On Fury

Despite that being the case, Tim Bradley was not convinced by the explanation from Fury’s camp. He doubted whether it was an elbow that landed on Fury. Bradley saw it connecting on the chin. He further scrutinized the quality of the footage.

He also claimed it could be a sign that Fury is no longer the same fighter. This was the second time Fury had been cut, the first of which was during his fight with Otto Wallin. While Fury got the win over Wallin, the fight could have been stopped on any given day due to the cut. Bradley felt this latest incident could be Fury’s downfall.

“This just might be the downfall or the end of Tyson Fury. I smell something. I smell bull***t, that’s what I smell. If you go and you look at that video, first of all the video had to be shot with a Samsung or something like that because the quality was all grainy…it looks disgusting. When you look at it in slow motion. did that elbow, which looked deliberate, land on the eye of Tyson Fury? No. the punch landed on the chin of Tyson Fury. I smell something fishy man,” Bradley stated
